The premiere episode of “Patriots and Conspirators” is slated to wrap up filming and begin post production in late December, 2018.
South Jordan, UT, November 3, 2018: Most final casting invitations were extended and accepted last week as plans to complete filming of “Last Press Conference,” a short, live-action, historical drama about the final days of Marilyn Monroe, move forward.
Accepting the role of Robert Kennedy, Landon Kasten adds experience along with other accomplished Utah actors who are joining the cast for final scenes in supporting roles, including Corey Sondrup as FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover, Dutch Vanderlaan as CIA Director Allen Dulles, Belinda Glenn as Dorothy Kilgallen, and Lenni Uitto as Peter Lawford. Additional actors include Rachelle Hardy, Tiffany Pipkin, Mycole Thon, and Shane Morrisun.
These actors join a distinguished list who began the production in December, 2017. They include Amberjo Pratt as Marilyn Monroe, Travis B. Smith as Fox mogul Daryl Zanuck, along with Rob Zimmerman, Seth Williams, Mili Parks, and Eric Pratt who play reporters.
“Last Press Conference,” written and directed by Frank Cutler, challenges commonly held stereotypes about Marilyn Monroe. The script was inspired by recently released documents and is intended as the premiere episode of a series entitled “Patriots and Conspirators.”
Last month, filming resumed after months of preparation and script revisions to extend screen time for Amberjo Pratt, the virtual embodiment of Marilyn Monroe. Additionally, another strong female role was introduced—Dorothy Kilgallen, played by Belinda Glenn, an intrepid reporter and confidante of Marilyn’s who, like Marilyn, died under mysterious circumstances. The addition of Kilgallen’s character alongside the legendary Monroe highlights the important pioneering impact women played in the media during the 1960s.
Additional script modifications were made to enhance the cohesion of the story, and the role of fictitious CIA operative Mitch Jackelson, played by Mycole Thon, was expanded and refined to embody the theme of “Patriots and Conspirators.”
This series will highlight controversial characters—both real and fictional--and their role in popular conspiracy theories. For example, Mycole Thon’s character, a CIA “jackel,” or assassin, embodies the emotional conflicts and moral dilemmas one faces when doing one’s patriotic duty requires extreme actions, seemingly going against acceptable moral standards, or possibly conspiratorial when viewed in light of the Constitution, yet actions that seem like the right thing to do, depending on the viewpoint.
