Awards Ceremony Scheduled for Saturday, January 7, 2023, 6pm, at the Towne Hub Theatre, American Fork, Utah, USA.
South Jordan, UT, January 2, 2023: On Sunday, January 1, 2023, the Utah Film Festival announced its official 12th Annual nominations. Amber Pratt received the nomination for Best Actress. She portrayed Marilyn in the feature narrative “Marilyn Monroe’s Last Press Conference.” One of seven nominees in this category, she was selected from a field of “over 500 projects and thousands of category submissions,” according to the YouTube announcement from Dora Workman, festival organizer.
Upon learning the news, the surprised Pratt said she really appreciated the opportunity to be part of a “good story.”
Additionally, two other cast members from “Marilyn Monroe’s Last Press Conference” received nominations for work in other films. Jake Ulisich, who plays Robert Kennedy, was nominated for best actor for his role in the film “See You Next Tuesday.” Additionally, actor Shane Morrisun, who plays FBI agent Sydney Grimes, was nominated for best director – short film for his work on “Notification.”
As an independent Utah film, “Marilyn Monroe’s Last Press Conference,” written and directed by Frank H. Cutler, challenges commonly held stereotypes about Marilyn Monroe and President John F. Kennedy. The script was inspired by alleged CIA documents leaked or released. Instead of reinforcing negative and demeaning narratives about Ms. Monroe and Pres. Kennedy, the film weaves an alternative storyline, shedding light on their motivations and goals and how they may have intertwined to promote a noble cause. The film also illustrates the potential source of popular conspiracy theories alleging Ms. Monroe’s death was not an accidental suicide, but rather a carefully orchestrated murder.
Thunderbolt Alley Film is based in South Jordan, Utah. The company focuses on acting, screenwriting, and movie production. “Marilyn Monroe’s Last Press Conference” is the company’s first film.
